Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) will be launching its premium hatchback, the Honda Jazz, in June 2009. The Jazz will roll out from Honda Siel’s Greater Noida plant and 70 per cent of its components will be acquired locally. The car will share the Honda City’s platform and is likely to be priced between Rs.5.5 and 6.5 lakh. It will be powered by a 1200cc petrol iVTEC engine and will have the Skoda Fabia and the Hyundai i20 for competition. HSCI President and CEO Masahiro Takedagawa said that the company is expecting the Jazz to do well in the Indian market though it may not match the Honda City in terms of sales.
