The Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Arun Yadav, said last week that Indian car companies should make at least one or two models for the physically challenged. He also said that the government provides excise duty cuts on vehicles meant for the handicapped. While lack of demand keeps auto makers from manufacturing such vehicles on a large scale, they are committed to manufacturing cars for the handicapped on specific order, said Yadav.
