The electric car manufacturer Maini Reva has announced to introduce a new model which will be powered by advanced battery technology. The company is also planning to set up another manufacturing plant.
According to Chetan Kumaar Maini, Deputy Chairman and Chief Technical Officer, “The new models will carry lithium-ion based battery that will help to recharge the car within an hour”.
The company has already sold more than 500 cars and is expected to sell around 1,000 electrical cars this year which will be increased to 4,000 by 2010 out of which half will be exported.
The company is also planning to strengthen its dealership network. Currently, it has showrooms in Delhi and Bangalore and sales outlets in cities like Pune and Hyderabad.
In collaboration with Reliance Digital, the company will enter into 15 major cities by this year end. It is also working on the solar powered electric cars thus expanding its product line in India as well as overseas.
