Audi Offers Sneak Peek at Supercharged Super Bowl Ad

Audi Offers Sneak Peek at Supercharged Super Bowl Ad HERNDON, Virginia There may be more action in Audi's 2009 Super Bowl ad than what fans see on the football field on Sunday, judging by this sneak preview video of the commercial.
Audi issued the teaser video about its "Chase" ad just days before the Super Bowl, showing off a commercial that packs more action into 60 seconds than most movies do in 90 minutes. "It has drama," explained director Scott Keogh in the video. "It has tons of action."
He added: "[The ad] clearly positioned the competitive brands as having [had] their day. It's Audi's time."
The ad is inspired by the iconic chase scenes from such Hollywood movies as Bullitt and Gone in 60 Seconds. The brief video shows a car crashing through a billboard and a motorcycle rider being dragged through a street behind his ride. The ad stars actor Jason Statham and a supercharged Audi A6. Statham is known for his roles in the Transporter series and The Bank Job.
"Statham rushes from decade to decade to avoid capture, trying to find a vehicle to aid his getaway," said Audi in a statement. "He finds that several other luxury vehicles fail to get the job done. That is, until he finds the supercharged Audi A6."
The New York Times on Friday reported that NBC is charging a record price of $100,000 a second for Super Bowl ads this year. "NBC is charging as much as $3 million for each 30 seconds of commercial time during Super Bowl XLIII on Sunday," it said.
