New Delhi, August 1, 2009: Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited grew 33.4% and sold a total of 78,074 vehicles in July 2009. This includes 10,546 units for export.
The company had sold a total of 58,543 vehicles in July 2008.
Maruti Suzuki’s volume in the domestic A2 segment grew by 38.3% per cent. In the A3 segment the sales volume grew by 51.5 per cent during the month as compared to sales in July 2008. It is the highest ever A-3 segment sales for the company.
During the month the company crossed the milestone of 50,000 export units for A star, which was introduced internationally in January 2009. The A star is Maruti Suzuki’s flagship export model. The major markets for this model in Europe include Germany, UK, France, Netherlands and Greece.
In the domestic market, during July ’09, the company introduced new Grand Vitara with a more powerful 2.4 litre engine and new features. The Grand Vitara is available with options of manual and automatic transmission.
