Hyundai sales increases by 26% for July ‘09

Domestic sales up by 54%

New Delhi, August 3, 2009: The country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter saw the domestic market take a turn for the positive as sales grew by a healthy 54% (YOY) as compared to sales in July, 2008. The cumulative sales also increased by 26% while the exports growth was 6% as compared to last July.

HMIL’s total sales for July, 2009 stood at 45,543 units against 36,152 units in July, 2008. The domestic sales it accounted for 23,193 units as against 15,066 units last July while the overseas sales grew from 21,086 units in July, 2008 to 22,350 units in July, 2009.

Commenting on July, 2009 sales Arvind Saxena, Sr. Vice President - Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “HMIL registered a steady growth in the month of July and it seems the market is stabilizing at this point and in the coming months we hope to see both the export and the domestic market picking up specially with the festival season starting next month. Of course a strong demand for the i20 has also helped HMIL maintain its share in the domestic market and grow it.”

The segment-wise cumulative sales in the month of July, 2009 are as follows: A2 Segment (Santro, i10, Getz & i20) 41,779 units; A3 Segment (Accent & Verna) 3720 units; A5 Segment (Sonata Transform) 44 units; and SUV Segment (Tucson) 0 unit.
