Tata Motors bags Rs 22 bn DTC contract

Tata Motors has bagged Rs 22 billion orders from the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) in order to supply 1,625 ultra low-floor buses and their maintenance for 12 years. The contract comprises Rs 9 billion for the 1,625 buses and about Rs 13 billion for a 12-year maintenance contract for these buses. The company`s principal activities are to manufacture and market heavy, medium and light commercial vehicles, utility vehicles and passenger cars. The company operates in two segments: automotive and others. This is the second consecutive occasion that the DTC has entrusted Tata Motors (Q, N,C,F)* with its prestigious order, aimed at revamping the city`s transportation system. The first such order by the DTC in 2007 for 650 such buses was won by Tata Motors, and the company fulfilled the order in batches, as per schedule, in 2008. Shares of the company gained Rs 3.8, or 2.59%, to settle at Rs 150.55. The total volume of shares traded was 480,811 at the BSE (Thursday). Source : myiris.com (2/1/2009)
