NEW DELHI: The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India on Tuesday said its premium hatchback Swift has reached the three lakh units sales milestone.
Claiming that Swift is the fastest model to reach the three lakh units mark, the company said it is setting up an online club, 'Swift Life', for all Swift-owners to commemorate the occasion.
"Swift represented the first Suzuki world strategic model produced in India. Built on a brand new platform, Swift marked a radical new trend in Suzuki design, representing a new philosophy and fresh thinking at Suzuki Motor Corporation," Maruti Suzuki India Managing Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek said.
Launched in May 2005, the car crossed the milestone in three years and eight months. It reached the first one lakh units in under 21 months, second one lakh units in under 13 months and the third one lakh units in under 11 months, the company said.
The Swift is available in petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel variant Swift Diesel in January 2007. Source : Economic Times (2/17/2009)
