Maruti gains from value engineering

Maruti Suzuki has managed to save approximately Rs 175 crore in the last three fiscals through value engineering. This was stated by its chairman RC Bhargava while addressing the 24th National Conference of Indian Value Engineering Society in New Delhi recently.

Over 220 delegates from 102 Indian industries and education institutions participated in the conference. They included delegates from Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Punjab Engineering College, L&T-EBG, Bosch Chassis India, Bharat Seats, Ashahi India Glass, Subros, Krishna Maruti, LPS, JBML and TCS among others. Around 32 technical papers in the field of innovation and value engineering were presented.

“With the help of value engineering, we had saved around Rs 42.5 crore in 2005-06, Rs 58 crore in 2006-07 and Rs 75 crore in 2007-08,’’ Bhargava said. The company, he said had taken measures, along with its vendors, to save on costs through value engineering initiatives.
