India Yamaha Motor has registered growth in sales of 75% instead of 27% during March 2010 as compared to the corresponding period last year. It sold 27,460 units in March 2010 as against 15,728 units sold in March last year. In domestic markets, the company sold 17,892 units in March 2010 as compared to 14,575 units in the same month last year. The export figures stood at 9,568 units in March 2010 while in March 2009 Yamaha exported 1,153 units.

New Delhi, April 2nd, 2010: Buoyed by positive consumer confidence and performance in premium bike segment, India Yamaha Motor has registered growth in sales of 75% during March 2010 as compared to the corresponding period last year. It sold 27,460 units in March 2010 as against 15,728 units sold in March last year. In domestic markets, the company sold 17,892 units in March 2010 as compared to 14,575 units in the same month last year. The export figures stood at 9,568 units in March 2010 while in March 2009 Yamaha exported 1,153 units.

Yamaha made its initial foray into India in 1985. In August 2001, Yamaha India became a 100% subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd, Japan (YMC). In 2008, Mitsui & Co., Ltd. entered into an agreement with YMC to become a joint investor in the motorcycle manufacturing company "India Yamaha Motor Private Limited (IYM)".
