MUMBAI (Reuters) - TVS Motor Co Ltd said on Thursday total two-wheeler sales in September rose 3.87 percent to 142,553 units from 137,246 units a year ago.
Domestic sales grew 11 percent at 132,281 units in September as against 119,017 units in the corresponding month of the previous year, TVS Motor said in a statement.
Sales of scooters rose 10.6 percent to 29,984 units in September while total motorcycle sales fell 14.8 percent to 60,718 units, it said.
Exports fell 36.5 percent to 10,272 units in September as against 16,201 units last year, TVS added.
TVS, India's third largest two wheeler-maker, also said it will take steps to obtain all necessary certifications under law before commencing sales of TVS-flame bikes which use the twin spark plug technology.
TVS and Bajaj Auto (BAJAJAUTO.NS : 2101.05 0) have been locked in a patent case over the use of technology in the Flame motorcycles, but India's Supreme Court had last month allowed TVS Motor Co to sell its "Flame" brand of motor bikes.
Shares of TVS Motor ended down 2.94 percent at 61.10 rupees in a Mumbai market that ended up 0.05 percent.
