Maruti Suzuki launches multi-TVC blitz on Swift

New Delhi, October 9, 2009: Maruti Suzuki, the country’s biggest car-maker, has created a record by simultaneously releasing six television commercials on Swift during the inaugural Champions League T-20 cricket match.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is an icon in the Indian automobile industry and is the fastest car to reach the 3.5 lakh unit-mark.

On this first ever multi-ad campaign by a car company, Shashank Srivastava, Chief General Manager (Marketing) Maruti Suzuki, said, “We decided to create a campaign for Swift, which means so much to so many people. The multi-ad campaign brings each of these facets to life while reinforcing the car’s high points. The campaign idea is to reinforce the bold, daring and exciting aspects to the fore and draw the consumer to explore further.”

One TVC, titled ‘Everybody owns a Swift’ for example, focuses on how a 2-weeler rider comes under fire from by-standers for accidentally bumping into a Swift parked at a crossing, while the Swift’s owner remains unperturbed. Another TVC showcases the thrilling performance of Swift and adventurous attitude of the Swift owner by showing extreme stunts performed in Ladakh.

Each of the TVCs feature unique characteristics of a Swift – be it ‘Young at heart’, ‘Superb handling’, or ‘Thrilling performance’. The campaign has started with the T-20 cricket tournament and all advertisements will be aired progressively across TV channels. Capital Advertising was the creative agency for the campaign.

Launched in May 2005, the sporty Swift achieved 3 lakh unit sales in February this year, in just three years and eight months since launch.

The Swift, built on a brand new platform, marked a radical new trend in Suzuki design, representing a new philosophy and fresh thinking at Suzuki Motor Corporation. It was targeted at the discerning customer who, while valuing the traditional Maruti Suzuki attributes of fuel efficiency, reliability and performance, also desires contemporary looks and attitude in the vehicle.

The Swift is available in Petrol and Diesel engine options and Maruti Suzuki has scaled up its production to meet the customer demands.

While it is popular amongst customers for its path breaking styling and its sporty drive, Swift’s superior fuel efficiency has added to its allure among customers. As per the ARAI certified fuel efficiency, the Swift Diesel (launched in January 2007, covers 21 kms in one litre of Diesel while the Swift Petrol runs 15.9 kms to a litre of Petrol.
